Framework agreement for unis

by Mark Rowe

Corps Security reports that it has a place on the London Universities Purchasing Consortium (LUPC) framework agreement for security services.

Covering the capital and the south east of England, and related not-for-profit bodies in the arts and culture sectors, LUPC was set up in 1968 as a not-for-profit buying body, owned by its members, for its members. It is one of six higher education purchasing consortia in the UK that work together, and with other specialist sector purchasing bodies, to tender and manage more than 100 EU-compliant framework agreements for members’ use.

LUPC has over 600 suppliers; companies that have had to go through an evaluation process. Owing to the high spend potential for its supply agreements, framework agreements and contracts are put out to competitive tender. This involves a process under which agreements are advertised in the Official Journal of the European Union (OJEU) and tender responses are assessed. This is to ensure that companies are capable of serving all members with a quality service; and have a commitment to competitive pricing.

Corps Security is one of four security providers on Lot 1 – Large Contracts (over £250K) of the LUPC framework. The firm says that being awarded a place will act as a major enabler for Corps Security to expand into the higher education, arts and culture sectors.

The Corps’ corporate account director, Nick Clegg, said: ‘We are delighted to have been awarded a place on the LUPC framework, as it’s something that we have been working hard towards for the last few years. Just as importantly, it will give us the opportunity to provide our expertise to a diverse range of institutions which will benefit from a superb level of service that exceeds all expectations.’
