Business award

A security company is celebrating after winning the ConocoPhillips66 Excellence in Community Relations Award at the 2012 Chamber of Commerce North Lincolnshire Business Awards.

The award recognises commitment to the community, demonstrating how the firm engages with and develops a sustainable community, and how they encourage their employees to do the same, to bring a positive impact on the community. Tommy Atkin, Managing Director of ProTouch Security, says: “It shows the dedication and effort of ProTouch Security has not gone unrecognised, and that we are a reputable company that is appreciated.” The security firm had to demonstrate their commitment to the community, and this included their corporate social responsibility strategy in place for suppliers and clients, using suppliers from reputable sources, and as local as possible.

Tommy Atkin adds: “As a company we volunteered as a rescue service to the local community earlier this year when the region experienced bad weather. We used social media to send out an emergency contact number for those who were stranded or needed help. We assisted over 100 people during those few weeks, that included rescuing drivers who were stranded, helping vulnerable and elderly people in the region, and also helping local businesses so they could continue to trade.”

The rescue service was free, and rescuees who gave a voluntary donation were made aware it would go towards veterans charities. As well as being the fourth emergency service in the region during bad weather, ProTouch also work with charities giving their support where they can with fundraising events. Tommy says: “It’s a great award to win, and we’re really proud to have been acknowledged for our community work. Being in the security and events industry gives us the opportunity to help people where we can, which is where our business philosophy lies.” For more information visit www.protouchsecurity.co.uk
