Bidvest Noonan in second acquisition

by Mark Rowe

Bidvest Noonan has made a second acquisition in 2021. As featured in the March print edition of Professional Security magazine, the facilities contractor acquired Axis Group, the UK security, cleaning and front of house concierge services. Now it’s bought Lynch Interact, an Irish firm that offers M&E (mechanical, electrical) and process engineering services for buildings, for an undisclosed consideration.

Bidvest Noonan, part of The Bidvest Group, provides outsourced services such as security, cleaning, technical and ancillary services in the UK and Ireland; and has offices in Dublin, Belfast and the City of London. The company’s organic and acquisition-led growth now sees it with over 20,000 employees.

Founded in 1956, Interact employs 80 people in Ireland and has revenues of about 15m euros. This acquisition will more than double the size of Bidvest Noonan’s Technical Services business in Ireland.

Bidvest Noonan CEO, Declan Doyle, says while the Group is looking to establish a greater presence in technical services in Ireland, it has no plans to do so in the UK. Doyle says: “Our focus in the UK remains on strengthening our position as a leading provider of security and facilities management services, which recently saw us acquire Axis, and we are currently working with their team on our exciting plans for the future.

“In Ireland, Interact provided us with a great opportunity to bring on board an outstanding team with a reputation for high standards. Their excellent customer service and long-standing client relationships mean that they are very complementary to Bidvest Noonan in Ireland. Bringing our two teams together will significantly enhance Bidvest Noonan’s service offering, and capability to deliver fully Integrated Facilities Management solutions, including enhanced M&E Engineering Services, to our Irish clients.”

Phillip Murphy, Managing Director of Interact, said: “We are delighted with this deal, which reflects very positively on the quality of our business and our people. By bringing together the Interact and Bidvest Noonan Mechanical and Electrical Engineering teams we have a fantastic opportunity to provide an even stronger best-in-class service proposition to clients in Ireland through our great talent pool of experts and engineers. We look forward to working with them as we continue providing established and new clients with the high standards of service for which we are known.”

After these two purchases, about half of Bidvest Noonan’s revenues will derive from security services, 42pc from ceaning and the remainder from Mechanical & Electrical Engineering and Ancillary Services.

The transaction is subject to approval from the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) in Ireland.
