Awards finalist

A Plymouth based security firm has made it into the final in a national competition. Security Management South West are attending the Security & Fire Excellence Awards 2014 at the Hilton on Park Lane, London next month.

Now in their 16th year, the awards highlighting the people, projects and processes that the UK’s security sector has to offer.

Security Management South West has been shortlisted as a finalist in Event Security Team of the Year for their involvement in MTV Crashes Plymouth in July. This category is designed for companies specialising in providing security for rock and pop concerts and sporting events as over the last few years, the growth in major events and functions has seen a new type of security professional emerge.

MTV Crashes Plymouth was a first ticket-only event hosted by Plymouth City Council which saw 20,000 music fans descended onto Plymouth Hoe. This took months of preparation and hard work with MTV acknowledging Plymouth as a location, stating that it was the best concert they have seen in seven years! The show was later shown on MTV’s flagship UK music TV channels MTV Music and MTV Live HD showcasing Britain’s Ocean City in over 35 countries.
