Armed Forces Covenant

by Mark Rowe

The facilities management services contractor, Servest, has been awarded the silver award from the Armed Forces Covenant Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS). This official UK award recognises Servest’s commitment and support to UK defence personnel.

ERS encourages employers to support the Ministry of Defence and inspire others to do the same. The scheme offers bronze, silver and gold awards for employers, public and private sector, that show or advocate support for the armed forces, and align their values with the Armed Forces Covenant.

To receive silver, Servest had to pledge to support the Armed Forces, Veterans, Forces families, Reserves and Cadets. Although now formalised through the Covenant, Servest says that it has supported the armed forces since the South African firm, based in Bury St Edmunds, began in the UK. The company has actively encouraged flexible working for military spouses. Servest recognises the value that the Armed Forces community brings to the business and there are already a number of Reserves and Cadet instructors within the ‘ranks’.

Jason Etherington, managing director of Servest Security said: “I am delighted that Servest has received this award. When I joined the company, I was looking forward to enhancing and formalising the links Servest has already established with the military community and service leavers, and I feel this award shows the progress that is being made. My personal experience with Servest has been amazingly rewarding.”

And Rob Legge, Group CEO of Servest said: “Here at Servest we have always recognised the tremendous value that the Armed Forces community brings to our business. We are delighted to be acknowledged and awarded the ERS silver award, and are proud to continue our support of the MoD.”
