ACS audit hailed

by Mark Rowe

Octavian Security, the Nottingham-based security contractor, reports that it once again been ranked in the top five per cent of UK businesses after its annual Security Industry Authority’s (SIA) audit.

The SIA’s Approved Contractor Scheme (ACS) awarded Nottingham-based Octavian with 157 points – a rise of 25 points on last year’s score. Over four days, ACS auditors assessed Octavian across its working practices, including; strategy, processes, CRM, financial management, leadership and CSR. At the close of the inspection, Octavian was 17 points short of the maximum score.

The voluntary ACS scheme, managed by the SIA as part of its remit to raise performance standards and to assist the private security industry in developing new opportunities, is an approval and inspection system for providers of security services. Earl Knight, Commercial Director at Octavian, said: “This year’s ACS audit clearly demonstrates that the changes implemented in 2014 have had a positive effect on our business. For instance, we have focused a lot on staff engagement and motivation over the last year. Initiatives such as e-learning and our Director Q&A demonstrate our dedication to improving engagement with all of our employees, regardless of location or grade.”

And Sukhi Ghuman, pictured, CEO and founder of Octavian, added: “Having been involved with the ACS scheme since the company was founded, we have strived to continuously improve the standards and management services under which we operate – and 2014 was no exception. Such a high score is a real credit to everyone involved with Octavian and reiterates our position as a market leader, placing us significantly ahead of our competitors. It must also be noted that we were given a ‘notice of good practice’ for our vetting and management services.”
