Student rooms protected

by Mark Rowe

A luxury student development in the heart of Durham has had fitted Kentec’s Taktis fire detection and alarm products. Ernest Place, ten minutes from the city’s centre and the university’s Durham city location, is a complex of five and six bed apartments and studios featuring gym, sauna and on-site cinema. MRM Solutions opted for an open protocol system built around the features of the new Taktis Technology Platform.

A fire safety system comprising three eight loop Taktis networked fire control panels, one in each accommodation block, plus a Vision repeater using Hochiki ESP protocol is connected to mainly Hochiki smoke and sounder beacon bases (VADs).

Kentec says that its Taktis fire detection and alarm system produces a control and indication system that is both powerful and sophisticated, yet simple to understand. Available in 2-8 loop or 2-16 loop versions and certified to EN54-2 and EN54-4, Taktis is the makers say for installation in larger buildings. It has the capacity to be networked up to 128 panels and repeaters. Visit www.kentec.co.uk.
