Accolade for installer scheme

by Mark Rowe

Aico, the domestic Smoke and Carbon Monoxide (CO) Alarms manufacturer, reports that its Expert Installer training scheme has won the Best Training Provider category at The Electrical Wholesaler Awards. Aico was also highly commended in the Best Overall Supplier category.

Michael Wright, Aico’s Marketing and Product Development Manager, says: “Training has been at the heart of what we do for so many years. We first launched our training scheme in 2009 and since then have trained over 17,500 people. Fire and Carbon Monoxide Alarms are lifesaving equipment, so whilst we are working hard to develop and manufacture quality products, it is equally important that we provide training on the correct installation and maintenance of alarms, so that they are able to give the lifesaving detection once inside a property.”

The alarm product company’s CPD accredited Expert Installer is a free modular training scheme created to offer to all involved in domestic alarm specification and installation details of standards and regulations, alarm system design and installation, and specific technologies. Aico adds that it’s the only domestic smoke alarm manufacturer to provide customers with free CPD accredited training. Many sessions are held and arranged with local wholesalers.

Aico has a Centre of Excellence in Oswestry, Shropshire and Mobile Training & Demonstration Units. These multi-purpose facilities cater for product demonstration, events and meetings and training, including Expert Installer. The Centre of Excellence features a Wholesaler Training area designed to resemble a modern trade counter, showing the point of sale and merchandising options available. Aico can take training and support to customers’ doors. Information boards on all the company’s technologies and alarm ranges – with fully functional product attached – are installed within, with a virtual video tour of the company’s manufacturing process.
