A case study of new door entry and CCTV installed at Rotheley House, a supported-living housing development in Hackney, for residents who suffer from mental health issues and learning difficulties.
Rotheley House is home to 15 residents and is managed by Advance Housing and Support. The previous entry system had become unreliable. Kevin Pearce, Deputy Area Manager for London and the South East at Advance, says: “One of our requirements was for us to be able to choose which residents had the functionality to let visitors in or not, depending on their capabilities.”
On assessing the property, London, E8-based Delta Security upgraded the door entry system to an isolated digital video entry system using the latest Videx Kristallo colour apartment handsets. These provide users with video images of visitors and a user can restrict functionality where required.
The installer also recommended and installed high definition Nexus IP CCTV cameras in communal areas and outside the premises. The cameras with high storage capability enable images to be stored and reviewed when necessary.
Kevin says that installation was completed faster than expected: “All engineers were professional and understanding in giving residents extra time to understand why they were there, giving them their badges and working through any communication challenges.
“The whole process for us was made very simple with regular communication and prompt, flexible responses to issues or changing requirements. The CCTV has already proved extremely useful on two occasions, one for an internal incident and the other to assist the police with a mobile phone robbery that happened outside the premises, where we were able to provide very clear images.”
