Police Innovation Fund

by Mark Rowe

All 43 forces in England and Wales are getting from a share of the Home Office’s latest £70m Police Innovation Fund.

This year the fund received 166 bids, of which 71 were successful.

Many of the grants are going on child protection. City of London are working on a ‘personalised fraud prevention tool’; Greater Manchester are piloting a ‘business support hub’ to work on crime against retailers, which is including partnering with Cardinal Security; Sussex Police too are working on a ‘retail crime partnership project’, with The Southern Co-operative, and local councils; and the Met Police are working with London hospitals on preventing ‘violence-related injury’. As in previous grants, body-worn video also features; this time East Midlands, and West Midlands, forces are procuring body cams.
