IT firm passes 27001 audit

by Mark Rowe

An IT Service Management (ITSM) company has passed its ISO/IEC 27001 audit – the international quality standard for information and data security.

Greg Pritchett, Managing Director of Marval, says: “With increasing worldwide threats to cyber security, it is important that our customers are reassured that as an organisation we are committed to the integrity and security of data and the consistent delivery of services.”

Briefly, ISO/IEC 27001 is an international standard for providing an information security management system. Marval had to prove its adherence to a strict framework of policies and procedures that included legal, physical and technical controls for the company’s information risk management processes.

Richard West, Global Service Desk Manager for Marval said: “Achieving ISO/IEC 27001 has been challenging but very rewarding. The certification process was long and thorough, and it required a lot of preparation and commitment by our team and management. A big part of it was about gathering relevant information to support and document our current practices and ways of working.”

Marval adds that it has held ISO/IEC 20000 certification, the international quality standard for ITSM since 2005.
