Wireless cameras

New from network camera manufacturer Axis Communications are the AXIS M1033-W and AXIS M1034-W. They offer video management support as well as Axis’ One-Click Camera Connection for hook-up to a hosted video service over the internet. They are suitable the makers say for securing small businesses, retail stores, restaurants, hotels and residences where a wired connection may be difficult or undesirable. Phil Doyle, regional director, Northern Europe, at Axis, says: “AXIS M1033-W and AXIS M1034-W enable intelligent, cost-efficient surveillance for on-site or hosted video systems and they represent an attractive addition to our AXIS M10 Series. These new wireless cameras, with a push-button for easy WLAN pairing, provide small businesses and residential users with an effective and easy-to-install surveillance tool.”

These latest models of the M10 Series provide video at 30 frames per second in both SVGA (AXIS M1033-W) and HDTV 720p (AXIS M1034-W) resolutions. They feature WiFi Protected Setup protocol (WPS), which simplifies the process of configuring logical security on wireless networks.

The cameras also feature a passive infrared (PIR) sensor for detecting movement in the dark and a white LED light for illuminating a scene automatically when motion is detected or when activated by the user.

They support two-way audio with microphone and speaker, so that users can listen in on an area besides play back a recorded audio clip to visitors or intruders remotely. I/O ports let a user connect devices such as door sensors to initiate video recording and external relays to activate lights.

The M1033-W and AXIS M1034-W models are supported by video management software through the Axis Application Development Partner Program, and AXIS Camera Station. The cameras include support for hosted video with One-Click Camera connection for managing video hosting services over the internet; and conform to ONVIF. For a film demonstrating the small and smart features of AXIS M10 Network Camera Series, – visit:
