The Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead (RBWM) has commissioned the Bristol-based consultancy Global MSC Security to advise and support the procurement of a new high-definition public space surveillance camera system across the borough.
A budget of £1.3m has been approved by the council for this significant enhancement to its cameras, which includes the replacement of analogue infrastructure with IP wireless transmission and new stairwell cameras at multi-storey car parks around the district at Hines Meadow, Broadway and Stafferton Way in Maidenhead; and Victoria Street in Windsor.
Cllr Jesse Grey, cabinet member for environmental services (which includes parking and flooding) at the borough, says: “We are investing £1.3m into upgrading our CCTV network as part of our wider commitment to doing what we can to maintain and enhance the safety of residents, visitors and businesses in the borough. The new state-of-the-art wireless system will be monitored all day, every day, throughout the year, enhancing coverage across the borough and providing greater support to Thames Valley Police.”
Derek Maltby, MD of Global MSC Security says: “This project follows a comprehensive review of the boroughs security system infrastructure by Global MSC Security’s specialist team. We are proud to be taking this forward and working with the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead to help improve the safety and security of residents, visitors and businesses in the towns across borough.”
The new system is expected to be in operation by the end of 2018. Pictured is Windsor town centre.
