Video analytics

by Mark Rowe

RIVA stands for ‘Realtime intelligent Video Analytics’ an intelligent 3D-video analytic system in RIVA cameras and encoders. The basic version VCA Presence tracks moving and stationary objects and persons and generates real-time alerts. Any camera tampering is detected. More VCA (video content analysis) packages for applications and analytic filters are available.

Due to the intuitive 3D graphic interfaces, it takes only a few minutes until camera and all functions of the analysis are ready to use, it is claimed. Once ready the video analytics tracks up to 100 targets and has up to 40 detection zones per camera. False alarms are reduced to a minimum, according to the German makers. A self-learning algorithm automatically adapts to site changes, ignores light changes due to cloud formation, artificial light and auto-iris camera operation or repetitive movements such as swaying trees or rippling water. The video analytics adjusts to image degradation caused by rain, fog, dirty lens and glare from the low sun. Due to the filters, the camera only transfers what is requested.
