Telephoto versions

by Mark Rowe

Arecont Vision, the IP megapixel camera company, introduced new telephoto versions of its MegaView 2, pictured, and MegaDome 2 Day/Night megapixel cameras at IFSEC 2014. The offerings include an 8-22mm P-iris lens for 1080p models, a 9-22mm P-iris lens for 3MP and 5MP models and an 11-22mm P-iris lens for 10MP models, all with a long-range LED illuminator for viewing in night-time mode.

Raul Calderon, Senior Vice President, Arecont Vision, said: “These new telephoto lenses further increase the coverage range for our MegaView 2 and MegaDome 2 cameras in both the day and night viewing modes. The addition of a new extended range LED ring ensures there is sufficient illumination to capture highly detailed images over long distances even in virtual darkness.”

The company’s P-iris lenses feature remote focus and remote zoom for installation by eliminating the need to perform field of view or focus adjustments on site. Lens operations can be remotely controlled from the head end. The P-iris lenses also provide an optimised iris position for the best depth of field and image clarity. Short or full range focus scan functions analyse a region of interest or the full scene to determine the best focus for the adjusted field of view.

MegaView 2 and MegaDome 2 cameras also feature the company’s wide dynamic range (WDR) which provides a dynamic range of up to 100dB at full resolution without lowering frame rates, the makers add. By combining long and short exposures in the same field of view, WDR maximises the amount of detail in bright and dark areas of a scene.

MegaView 2 and MegaDome 2 cameras feature H.264 (MPEG-4 Part 10)/MJPEG dual encoders, privacy masking, extended motion detection with 1,024 distinct motion detection zones, a binning function for more light sensitivity (3MP, 5MP and 10MP models), flexible cropping to adjust image sizes and the ability to choose PoE (Power over Ethernet) or external power.

MegaView 2 Telephoto cameras are available with infrared (IR) in resolutions of 1080p WDR, 3MP WDR, 5MP and 10MP in bullet-style enclosures that are IP66 environmentally rated.
And the cameras are available with IR in resolutions of 1080p WDR, 3MP WDR, 5MP and 10MP in IP66 environmentally rated and IK-10 impact resistant dome enclosures.
