Security Essen awards

by Mark Rowe

Security Essen started in 1974 with 105 exhibitors. This year, well over 1000 companies from around 40 nations will present their products and services, from September 23 to 26.

Messe Essen offers the Security Innovation Award. The prize is in three categories: “Technology and Products”, “Services” and “Fire Protection”. Companies can put themselves forward as candidates for this award with their innovations. The closing date for submissions will be June 13, 2014.

A jury chaired by Hermann Feuerlein, former Vice-Chairman of Bundesverband deutscher Sicherheitsberater und -ingenieure e.V. (BDSI – “Federal Association of German Security Consultants and Engineers”), will check the submissions. The awards will be handed over during a festive gala, the evening before Security Essen. Rudi Cerne, presenter of the “Aktenzeichen XY” German television programme, will be the compere for the evening.

On a booth under the title of “Innovation Made in Germany”, firms will be able to show their new products and innovations to trade visitors. Their appearances at the fair will be supported by the Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs and Energy which will bear 70 percent of the costs of the booth rent. Firms from the fields of security consultancy, electronics and security systems (amongst others) have registered until now. Just a few areas are still free. Any interested parties can obtain applications from www.bafa.de
