Recording platform

by Mark Rowe

BCDVideo has added to its Video Recording Platforms (VRPs) with HP’s 6TB hard drives. The Nova Series now has new models as well as 150 per cent greater storage on the products.

Included in the upgraded line is the BCD310E8 Tower, which is scalable up to 24TB and built for retail use with remote system management. The company also released the BCD320-SDS, a 15-inch (38.1cm) deep, two-bay, rack server, which can support up to 12TB of video storage. This unit can work as an access control server or client workstation, with RAID 1 capabilities. The 1U BCD320E8 series has expanded to storage of 24TB in redundant and non-redundant models. Earlier this month, BCDVideo also released the newest version of their BCD380V8, which offers up to 84TB in two rack spaces.

For larger storage, the company has expanded its BCD350V8 series to handle up to 108TB of video storage in a tower or 5U of rack platform. The 6U SuperNova External Drive Array Series can now record up to 420TB of video data, scalable to 1.68PB in 22 rack spaces.

The Nova Series family includes BCDVideo’s SMARTtechnology, which integrates system monitoring with disaster and video recovery, remote access, and redundant cloud retention. The Nova Series platform includes lifetime telephone support and a five-year, global, on-site hardware warranty.

BCDVideo meanwhile has released an 84TB model of their Nova Series. This new product allows the storage company’s BCD380V8-M system to manage up to 73TB of RAID 5 useable internal video storage, a 150 percent capacity increase, while still only using two rack spaces. The makers say that the majority of storage projects can now be handled in this single solution.

And BCDVideo added a new Shallow Depth Server (SDS) to their Nova Series. At only 15 inches deep and with up to 6TB of internal RAID-1 storage, the Nova 1U SDS is the makers say suitable for rack-mount or command centre desks, due to its dimensions and ability to support tens of thousands of entry cards. The Nova 1U SDS and 84TB model include all of BCDVideo’s SMARTtechnologies, and have a five-year, global, on-site warranty. Visit www.bcdvideo.com.
