The Maidstone-based installation company Secure Engineering had a preview of the Raytec Spartan floodlight at its offices a few weeks before its launch. Unveiled in January 2014, this white light has been designed for hazardous sites.
A toughened glass window and marine-grade aluminium casing give this 2,250 lumens floodlight its robust exterior, designed to withstand harsh environments. The Spartan floodlight is ATEX & IECEx approved as explosion-proof for all Zone 1 and Zone 2 hazardous areas. It’s also designed and made in the UK, making the light particularly valuable for companies that are seeking to support British manufacturing, and to make their business more sustainable, the firms say.
Raytec’s Peter Hulme explained that the new light has been designed for easy installation, easy maintenance, easy inspection, and long life performance. He demonstrated the VARIO holographic lens, and the variable beam patterns that the light can display. This provides far greater control over the intensity and distance of illumination. The Spartan flood light uses thermal management technology, ensuring a cooler LED operating temperature, which allows the product to operate for ten or more years, half of which are covered by a five-year warranty.
