PoE Gigabit Switch

by Mark Rowe

The Taiwanese manufacturer VIVOTEK has launched its AW-GEV-264A series of L2 PoE Gigabit switches offering IP surveillance management.

The AW-GEV-264A series, called the VivoCam PoE switch, is a 24-port managed L2 PoE Gigabit switch. Users can manage, configure, and monitor VIVOTEK IP cameras, video servers, NVRs and central management software.

Tim Su, Director, Marketing Division, VIVOTEK, said: “As a total solution provider, VIVOTEK has accumulated profound expertise in surveillance system implementation and provided the market with our comprehensive product offerings. Based on innovative spirit and design talent, VIVOTEK adds several unique and exclusive features to the existing capabilities of the L2 Protocol and creates the VivoCam PoE switch product line, allowing users to discover all VIVOTEK devices and deploy a surveillance network topology automatically. Today, we are pleased to be the first in the market to launch PoE switches with IP surveillance management functions, reaffirming VIVOTEK’s leading position in the industry. In order to make the surveillance system management easier and more intuitive for users, we will keep bolstering our VivoCam PoE switch product line in the future.”

In the series are the AW-GEV-264A-185 and AW-GEV-264A-370, which support a 185 Watt power supply and 370 Watt power supply respectively. The AW-GEV-264A series adopts a graphic management approach, enabling users to view the entire surveillance system structure and device conditions by topology or floor plan. Users can also map their outdoor surveillance application via Google maps. The products offer trouble-shooting and traffic monitoring, helping the user to clarify connection problems or device issues. The backup function for the IP camera configuration files is to aid the batch reboot and restoration of camera devices.

For efficiency of surveillance system implementation and to create a more robust system for global clients, VIVOTEK has started offering Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) solutions for commercial and industrial uses. The commercial series includes a range of managed PoE switches, unmanaged PoE switches, PoE extenders, and PoE injectors while the industrial series includes industrial PoE switches and industrial media converters.

VIVOTEK is attending Intersec Dubai from January 18 to 20, 2015. The AW-GEV-264A series will be demonstrated live on-site, at stand S1-K26. For more visit: www.vivotek.com.
