Motorola open Texas factory

by Mark Rowe

In the United States, Motorola Solutions reports the opening of its new, Video Security & Analytics (VS&A) factory in Richardson, north of Dallas, Texas. The firm says that the 136,000 square foot building, pictured, represents the company’s continued investment in North American manufacturing.

John Kedzierski, senior vice president, Video Security & Analytics at Motorola Solutions stressed the US manufacture. He said: “We’re proud to be building upon our commitment to provide advanced video security offerings that help our customers make better informed decisions. With this new, state-of-the-art facility we will be manufacturing critical, NDAA-compliant [US National Defense Authorization Act] safety and security video solutions on the doorstep of American public safety agencies and businesses.”

The arm of communications and analytics firm Motorola says that it has made a number of significant acquisitions in the US and internationally in video security and analytics; namely the Canadian video manufacturer Avigilon; and, last year, California-based Pelco. The company says that the Dallas factory will be the central hub of production and will integrate the company’s mobile and fixed video products, aimed at businesses and first responders such as police.
