by Mark Rowe

VIVOTEK has launched its 1.2MP mobile dome network camera, MD8531H. The Taiwanese makers say it’s designed with several features for vehicles such as buses and trains.

Combined with GPS (Global Positioning System), the surveillance system can add to the tracking of a vehicle fleet. The truck fleet dispatcher and managers can get real-time information such as driver behaviour, location, speed, fuel consumption, routes and conditions on the roads. Dispatcher or managers can send alerts.

VIVOTEK developed the compact mobile dome network camera MD8531H with full EN50155 compliance; the camera can withstand shock and vibration, maintaining stable and reliable video during movement. The vandal-proof metal housing and IP66-rated housing provides protection from vandalism and resists humidity, dust, and temperature extremes. An intelligent tamper detection feature keeps security staff notified once the product suffers video loss from being blocked or spray-painted. To aid on-board storage and data portability, the camera comes with a MicroSD/SDHC/SDXC card slot for local recording. In corridors, A video rotation feature can provide wider vertical coverage for more depth. The camera’s WDR Pro gives the product wide dynamic range, which enables the camera to be able to capture clear image around the vehicles despite contrasts in light, as in and then out of a tunnel. Steve Ma, Executive VP at VIVOTEK, said: “For years, we have completed numerous success transportation projects around the world, including in Hungary, Mexico, Brazil, Taiwan and more. With accumulated professional experiences and R&D capacity in transportation surveillance, we developed MD8531H, the best choice of camera for transportation applications.”
