Mini-bullet camera

by Mark Rowe

New from Tyco Security Products, part of the US multi-national Tyco, is the Illustra 610 Compact IP Mini-Bullet Camera. The security and fire safety product company says that the mini-bullet is for indoor or outdoor use at small to mid-size businesses.

The camera can blend into the environment and offers 1080p resolution for high-definition video. The product provides various viewing angles, including a horizontal view and a corridor mode to capture video in narrow hallways or other areas where the traditional landscape format won’t do. Using a built-in IR LED, the camera delivers video in a variety of lighting the makers say. Its wide dynamic range further minimizes the impact on video caused by glare and high-contrast scenes.

Julian Inman, Product Marketing Manager, Video, EMEA, for Tyco Security Products, said: “The combination of illuminator and true day/night functionality enables the Illustra 610 Compact IP Mini-Bullet camera to stay focused in changing light situations, delivering quality video surveillance even in total darkness. It’s a great addition to our rapidly growing Illustra HD IP Camera range that provides industry-leading versatility and ease of use in an economical package.”

Multiple streams of H.264 and MJPEG compression offer image clarity with controlled bandwidth use. A built-in micro SD/SDHC card slot enables several days of recording to be stored on a memory card. Also, when triggered, the embedded motion detection sensor in the camera can send an alert to the operator or an email to an address or handheld device.

The ONVIF-compliant camera configures using the free Illustra Connect software that ships with all Illustra cameras. The software is designed to simplify network discovery and configuration, thus saving hours of installation time. The camera is also factory focused, doing away with the need for extra time at installation. Visit www.americandynamics.net.
