IFSEC in Asian venture

by msecadm4921

The international exhibition organiser UBM Live has made its latest overseas launch: IFSEC Southeast Asia 2013. Due to run from September 11 to 13, 2013 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, Malaysia, IFSEC Southeast Asia calls itself the only security event in the ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) region that unites the entire security buying chain.

Charlie Cracknell, event director for IFSEC, said: “Having acquired the ASEAN M&E Show, (the largest mechanical and electrical engineering exhibition in the ASEAN region) UBM Live has taken the strategic decision to reposition its leading regional events ISF (International Security & Safety Expo Forum) and FIREC (Malaysia’s official fire protection and rescue Expo & Conference) to establish IFSEC Southeast Asia as a dedicated commercial security and fire event for the ASEAN and wider Southeast Asia market in 2013.”

The ASEAN M&E 2012 event which ran from June 26 to 28 earlier this year, incorporating ISF (Powered by IFSEC) and FIREC, drew a reported record number of visitors.  The exhibition saw 11,884 visitors over three days, an 18pc increase in visitors compared to the 2010 event.

Cracknell adds: “The Asian region is one of the fastest growing security and fire sectors in the world. Research conducted has demonstrated that there is a huge demand for a dedicated annual security and fire event in this region.  As a result, the IFSEC organising team will use its extensive international database and network of participants and partners to ensure that IFSEC Southeast Asia is established as the premier security and fire safety event in this territory.”
