HD camera

by Mark Rowe

This full HD camera from Panasonic, the WV-SBV131M, features an aluminium die cast body which makes it able to withstand external shocks. The shell also protects from damage to the optical unit in the case of mechanical shock. For example, if mounted to a vehicle, the high light compensation and adaptive black stretch functions ensure image quality is maintained regardless of lighting the makers say. The product offers 1080P full HD images up to 30 frames per second; and features VIQS (Variable image quality on specified area), H.264 compression and wide dynamic range. The camera shell is also scratch resistant, protecting it from high pressure washers (if mounted on a vehicle). Due to the rugged nature of the camera, it is suitable for mounting on vehicles, the makers say. It offers a wide viewing angle, even when mounted on the side of a vehicle. To compensate for any side mounted camera, a side installation function allows the user to set an angle of view to be observed by the unit regardless of positioning.

This security camera is also equipped with a cooling fan and a heater to ensure that the unit is able to operate smoothly at all temperatures, these features are also complimented by water and dust resistance. In addition to the rugged features, this security camera also boasts high image quality and adaptabiliy in a variety of conditions.
