Caught on camera

by msecadm4921

A man admitted burgling a house after he was caught on camera entering a property, the day after a documentary on Nottinghamshire Police’s ‘Capture Houses’ was aired. Ricky Clarke, of Westminster Close, near St Ann’s, appeared before Nottingham Magistrates on Friday, February 10, charged with burglary and theft at a house in Burns Street, Nottingham.

Clarke was captured on camera entering the property on Thursday, February 2, and seen to make off with some property, which had been placed there by police. Unknown to him, the address was a police ‘Capture House’ and fitted with recording equipment and crime detection tools such as SmartWater. DS Craig Luckett, of the city burglary team, said: “The force continues to use ‘Capture Houses’ throughout Nottinghamshire as a tool in the fight against crime.

“This recent apprehension of yet another burglar caught in one of our houses evidences just how effective they are.

“Obviously Clarke didn’t heed the warning in the BBC documentary that we are using ‘Capture Houses’ to catch burglars in the act. Either that, or he was simply pushing his luck.”
