Cat 5 cable

by Mark Rowe

The distributor Videcon has launched a new Cat 5 cable. The West Yorkshire-based firm says that it’s to strengthen its delivery of a one stop service for an installer. The company’s product range includes analogue CCTV, HD-SDI ranges and now the new HD-IP range from Concept Pro.

The new cable has a solid copper core. It comes in a 305m reel and has a purple colour to distinguish it from other cables during installation. The cable is marked every metre for the installer to see how much has been used during the installation. This means a lot less waste and lets the installer work out how much cable you for the next installation.

Sales Manager Steve Newsome says: “We’re bringing this new cable to market based on demand from our customers. They wanted good-quality high spec Cat 5 cable at a competitive price, so that’s exactly what we’ve delivered. Cables are one of those costs that can creep up gradually over time, almost unnoticed. Many suppliers’ prices are high at the moment and cable prices don’t always get put under the same scrutiny as cameras and recording equipment. We’d urge installers to keep an eye on their cable prices, and try our new Cat 5 cable. We’re confident that they’ll be impressed with both the quality and the price”.
