Wireless PIR launch

by msecadm4921

The Genesis 2 wireless passive infra-red (PIR) detectors from Luminite offer a combination of radio communication and black-mirror optics.

Luminite Electronics is to launch its Genesis 2 wireless PIR detector range at IFSEC 2012, Hall 4 stand I7. The Genesis 2 incorporates radio wireless communications and black mirror optics within a new, IP 65 rated case design.

The Genesis 2 PIRs are available in wired or wireless variants, to suit most site requirements. The wireless variant uses Luminite’s radio communications, enabling up to 64 PIRs within each Genesis 2 system to communicate back to the Masthead transceiver. Transmission range is typically 1km and beyond, the makers report, which is essential for industrial areas and large expanses of open ground.

The black mirror optics, used in Genesis 2 PIRs, reduce the effect of unwanted light reflections, such as car headlights and also white light elements in reflected sun light. These high-gain, black mirrors not only reduce false alarms, it is claimed, but also allow detection distances up to 60m in narrow beam and 30 m in wide beam modes, with reliable cover over the whole range and at different target speeds. Genesis 2 also uses dual sensing technology, only triggering an alarm if both sensors within the PIR are activated either simultaneously or in sequence.

The detector’s case is made from weather-proof ABS with a silvered spray finish and incorporates ergonomic front access for easy on-site fitting and adjustment. Battery life is up to two years depending on settings and location.

The Genesis Masthead links to the CCTV by IP network or serial interface and can be operated using Luminite’s free, IP remote control and monitoring software. The Genesis Relay Unit, which enables 16 physical alarm and/or tamper switch outputs, can be added to the system. The company’s Walk Test Instrument, designed for installers to verify the intruder detection range of a Genesis 2 PIR and for confirming the wireless signal strength, can also be used within the new system.
