Intruder alarm control panel

by Mark Rowe

Vanderbilt showed the latest update to its SPC intruder alarm control panel suite at IFSEC 2016. After its predecessor, SPC Connect 2.0 extends the SPC Connect product with support for installation and engineer management .

According to Joe Grillo, Vanderbilt’s CEO: ‘The cloud is revolutionising the way that security systems are controlled and SPC Connect 2.0 is at the cutting edge when it comes to helping installers to maximise its potential. IFSEC is the perfect place to highlight its features and benefits, and our team of experts is on hand to demonstrate how this useful this new tool can be in the day to day lives of busy installers.’

SPC Connect 2.0 lets the Installer remotely carry out tasks such as site configuration, trouble-shooting, local user configuration and maintenance – saving time and money that would otherwise be spent travelling to and from site.

The front-end interface to an individual site has the same web layout as for a local connection to an SPC, thus providing familiarity. By logging in via a user name and password, it’s possible to remotely view status, set and unset a system, control devices, access an event log and view cameras across single or multiple panels. It is also possible to configure direct messaging by email, so in the event of an alarm the Installer is notified. Available in English, Vanderbilt is developing other language specific versions of SPC Connect 2.0: Spanish, German, French, Swedish and Italian.

End users can download the SPC Connect 2.0 app free, from the Apple App Store or Google Play, which provides them with an interface for arming and status information. All of the user’s interactions through SPC connect are secured with financial grade SSL security.

The firm adds that the last 12 months have been a period of considerable activity for Vanderbilt. A rationalised supply chain management and logistics infrastructure has been initiated, for improving product availability to customers. A programme of activities will integrate Vanderbilt’s global operation across 95 countries worldwide, making over 2,000 products available to all customers on the firm says increasingly short lead times. Vanderbilt has also made a number of key appointments.
