Audio verification

by msecadm4921

IP-based video and audio verification, which has the potential for reducing false alarms, is offered by the new version of the SPC intruder detection system, by Security Products from Siemens. Other new features include security functions for banking applications, multi-lingual support, and wireless options. Also available are options for monitoring the status of and viewing images from Siemens SPC systems via portable internet-enabled devices, including the iPhones and iPads.

The new IP-based fully digital video and audio verification feature adds the makers say to efficiency in the CMS (Central Monitoring Station) by reducing false alarms caused by incorrect user activations to virtually zero, it is claimed. By using the confirmation feature, operators in the CMS can avoid needless call-out operations, which are wasteful of money and resources, by basing their decisions on live audio and video as well as on pre- and post-event audio and video.

The audio facility offers two-way operation, so that CMS operators can as a  response to alarms tell intruders that they are being monitored, which often deters. For bank users, the new version of Siemens SPC offers configuration for procedures that are commonly used to address the complex security requirements of ATM and vault areas, including dual-PIN access and automatic testing of seismic detectors. In addition, support is provided for wireless personal security devices to protect banking employees.

As supplied, the new SPC panels are capable of operating in eight languages, and more language packs can be downloaded. It is possible for the individual users of an installation to choose the language that suits them, with this language being selected automatically when they enter their PIN.

SPC intruder detection systems from Security Products from Siemens are available in versions to suit applications of almost any size, the makers say, from high-end residential and SOHO installations to large enterprise systems for banks, airports, commercial and industrial installations.
