Access Control

Battery-operated escutcheon

by Mark Rowe

SALTO Systems has launched XS4 One. The access control product manufacturer describes it as a new lock for securing internal doors. The new XS4 One is a battery-operated electronic escutcheon that is wire-free and networked through the SALTO Virtual Network and SALTO Wireless network. It provides the makers say a solution for electronic access control in a variety of applications.

According to the firm, installation is possible on any type of door, including those with narrow frames. Its body and escutcheon are made of steel and the product comes with mechanical cylinder cut outs for key override or access lock outs (override European and Cam profile cylinder) with audit trail facility available.

It has a choice of mechanical or electronic privacy option, and the lock can always be opened from the inside (single action panic feature works with the relevant mortise lock). Complementary escutcheons without reader are also available to maintain the aesthetic of doors that do not need to be controlled.

The company says that XS4 One is designed for use on busy, high traffic doors that need additional strength and is equipped with an integral reader module capable of reading MIFARE (DESFire EV1, Plus, Ultralight C, Classic – ISO/IEC 14443, Bluetooth SMART (BLE) and NFC.

It meets EN1634 and is compatible with DIN and European mortise locks, mortise locks with Swiss profile cylinder, Australian standard mortise locks and narrow style mortise locks. It’s claimed to be suitable for doors from 32mm up to 120mm, for doors that require additional security without the expense of installing a conventional access control system, the firm says.

The XS4 One is available exclusively from SALTO distribution partners. Visit www.saltosystems.com.
