Access Control

Access software

by Mark Rowe

Bosch reports that its Access Professional Edition (APE) software has a more user-friendly interface. New APE 3.4 enables installers to manage access control. It goes beyond locking and unlocking of doors, say the developers. It allows reception registration, badge registration and entrance control to entrance monitoring, alarm management and video verification.

Though the software has retained all of its functionality, its new interface offers a more streamlined experience the firm says as it reduces a variety of potentially distracting features by using a smaller range of colours. Other changes include faster updating and reducing of the number of outdated icons and toolbars to aid navigation.

APE can be integrated with other building management and security functions like elevator management and intrusion protection. It is also enabled for integration into the XProtect video management software, from the IP security management software developer Milestone Systems.

APE 3.4 is suitable Bosch says for entry to mid-scale access control needs in industrial, commercial or retails buildings, especially where the full and more complex feature set of Bosch’s Building Integration System (BIS) is not required. Visit www.boschsecurity.com.
