Collinson Group reports that it has added to its Travel Insurance capability with two new hires. Karen Walker joins as Head of Travel Underwriting and will lead the underwriting strategy for personal lines business across direct, white label and affinity products. Karen will also be responsible for the product development and rating of solutions for the European and international market, with the airline sector in particular a focus.

Karen joins from AIG where she spent 13 years in underwriting, more latterly as Global Head of Travel Underwriting where she gained experience of multinational business with airline and financial services partners, working with multiple regional offices and service centres.

Laurence Stubbington heads up the commercial and account management team across travel insurance and is also responsible for the development of Collinson Group’s travel business in the UK. Laurence brings over 15 years’ experience across client relationship management, business development and insurance underwriting and has held senior management roles in companies including Allianz Global Assistance, RBS Insurance and ACE Group (now Chubb).

Laurence, pictured, joins from Chubb where, as Travel Product Manager, he was responsible for all affinity-related travel business within the Accident & Health division for its UK and Ireland operations. Both will be based between Collinson offices in London and Haywards Heath and report to Head of Travel Insurance, Greg Lawson.

Greg Lawson said: “The addition of Karen and Laurence to the team further enhances the opportunity for us to help new and existing clients deliver their end customer propositions. By bringing together such a wealth of travel capabilities and experience alongside the unique set of ancillary revenue and technology solutions within the wider group, the team is now exceptionally well-placed to deliver a compelling end-to end world-wide travel-based proposition.”
