Tram contract

by Mark Rowe

A family-owned firm has been awarded a CCTV contract worth more than £1m, by Vinci Construction UK. Nottingham-based Inside Out Technical Security Ltd is to install cameras and a video management system for the latest phase of the city’s tram network. The remit includes the design and creation of a control centre, to monitor phase two of the Nottingham tram works; said to be the second largest construction project in the UK.

The contract is with Taylor Woodrow, the civil engineering division of Vinci Construction. More than 140 Pelco cameras and the Pelco’s Endura system will be installed. Work is scheduled to take six months by the end of 2014.

At Inside Out, MD Donna Bickley said: “This is truly a wonderful accreditation and seal of approval for Inside Out and I’m delighted for our team of engineers, all of whom have worked tirelessly to meet the demands of such a technically challenging contract. After successfully being awarded this contract, it will almost certainly permit our company to look at recruitment and further expansion. We feel very grateful that Vinci Construction made sourcing a local business a priority and one they felt was worth investing in.”

And Paul Harris, Programme Director at NET Phase 2 construction contractor Taylor Woodrow Alstom, said: “The project is already delivering a welcome economic boost for the region, by working with local suppliers as much as possible. We are delighted to to work with Inside Out Technical Security on this project and to grow our relationship with them.”

The installer recently branched into the provision of time lapse film productions and are now creating construction films of ‘stories worth sharing’ on behalf of Vinci Construction UK, Network Rail, Alstom, Laing O’Rourke and Carillion; as well as for events such as Nottingham’s Splendour Festival.
