Swedish IDs

by Mark Rowe

Morpho (Safran), the French provider of identification products, has been awarded a contract by the Swedish Transport Agency (Transportstyrelsen) to produce driver licenses and digital tachograph cards; the records of driving and rest times of truck and bus drivers. Sweden began issuing the new driver licenses in January and is set to start issuing the digital tachograph cards later this year.
Sweden’s redesigned driver licenses and digital tachograph cards will integrate Morpho’s latest security features to comply with new European Union standards and protect against document fraud.

Jean-Paul Jainsky, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Morpho said: “Decades of experience matched with continuous innovation have positioned Morpho as a trusted supplier of driver licenses throughout the world. We are honored to have won this contract and look forward to future opportunities within Sweden’s ID document market.”

Also Sweden has a criminal identification system from Morpho, which is being upgraded with the company’s latest biometric recognition.
