Race car

by Mark Rowe

The SALTO Systems-sponsored BMW race car operated by PPM Motorsport and driven by Andy Marston and Brett Evans from SALTO partner Custom Technology Solutions, started their latest outing at Snetterton, Norfolk, by qualifying in fourth place.

The Birmingham-based outfit’s pace was a sign of things to come with breakneck racing all the way round the historic circuit; with the car constantly pushing and challenging for the lead. Finally, after the two-hour race that contained sun, thunder, lighting, drizzle and torrential rain, the car, pictured, finished second in class just missing out on first by three seconds. The winning machine was a £100k car with a team of seven mechanics.

Snetterton is an ideal circuit for Andy and Brett to advance their racing career. At 2.97 miles (4.78 kilometres) long, it is the second longest racing track in the country. It hosts races from a range of motorsport series including the British Touring Car Championship, British Formula Three Championship and British Superbike Championships. The combination of long straights and a wide variety of turns challenges both driver and car making it an exciting racing venue.

The next race for the team is at Cadwell Park on Saturday, August 6.
