British Transport Police (BTP) is continuing to appeal for information after a female member of security staff was punched in the face at Manchester Piccadilly. Officers have released CCTV of three men police want to speak to in connection with the incident which took place next to the ticket barriers on Saturday, November 19, 2011.

PC Adam Bradbury, investigating officer, said: “Three men left the 7.37pm Norwich to Manchester Piccadilly service at the station and headed towards the ticket barriers on platform 14. Security staff at the station approached two of the men, who were found not in possession of a valid ticket. Refusing to buy a ticket, the trio attempted to leave the ticket barriers when security staff intervened.

“One of the guards, a 40-year-old woman from Bolton, was then punched in the face by one of the men, causing bruising. Another of the security guards sustained bruising when he was kicked in the legs and tripped up.”

Police have carried out anniversary visits in the station and viewed hours of CCTV from the station platform and have seized these stills of three men they are keen to identify.

PC Bradbury added: “BTP will not tolerate assaults of any kind towards railway staff and we will do everything possible to track down the offender and bring him to justice. But we need your help. If you know the identity of the men in these photographs, or his current whereabouts, please get in touch as we believe he will have information which can assist the investigation.”

Anyone who has information which could assist the investigation, is asked to contact British Transport Police on 0800 40 50 40, or the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. In all calls, quote reference B4/NWA of 27/02/2012.
