Lone work milestone

Connexion2, developer and manufacturer of the Identicom, lone worker device, has shipped its 100,000 Identicom device.  Established in 2003, the company has seen its products in use  in public and private healthcare, social housing, utilities, facilities management, retail and transport and logistics.

While in the main in the UK, Connexion2 has developed partnerships in the USA, Canada, Australia and New Zealan, Germany, Spain and France.

Connexion2’s Managing Director, Craig Swallow, said:  “We’re delighted to be shipping our 100,000 Identicom device – it’s a real achievement and a testament to how many lone workers rely on the device for greater peace of mind when working alone.  The fact it allows discreet use and is styled in a neat identity badge form continues to make it the device of choice for companies, associations and employees.”

Identicom looks like a standard identity badge holder but incorporates mobile phone (GSM) technology, which can be used to alert security staff at an Alarm Receiving Centre, and allows them to pinpoint the worker’s location and capture audio evidence.  The device includes an alarm that can be triggered discreetly by a user and a lanyard attachment that enables it to be worn easily but also includes a discreet ‘rip alarm’ function, which is triggered if the unit is forcibly removed from the wearer.

In May, Connexion2 is the inaugural sponsor of the new Lone Worker Protection Product Area at IFSEC International 2012, at the Birmingham NEC from May 14 to 17.

Identicom comes with variants including ‘Man Down’ detecting and GPS enabled devices to offer the ability to integrate with the Mobile Workforce Management Platform (a secure online portal for lone worker managers to assist best practice, productivity and flexibility of resources).
