Freight and migrant crisis conference

by Mark Rowe

Commercial impacts of the migrant crisis on road haulage and rail freight services are being felt, with vehicle security, driver safety and loss to goods adding huge costs to the supply chain and loss of revenues to freight operators as well as businesses. So says LBCG (London Business Conferences Group Limited), the organiser of the Pan European Freight Security and the Migrant Crisis Conference which runs on April 27 and 28 in London.

Invited speakers include Immigration Minister at the UK Home Office, James Brokenshire, Christopher Chope MP and John Keefe, UK Director of Public Affairs at Eurotunnel Group. Topics will include:

– What is the plan of action to further mitigate disruption and improve security at ports, terminals and approaches?

– How are policy makers planning to improve secure parking & terminal fencing throughout the UK, France and across Europe?

– What multi-purpose technologies are available to detect migrants and improve security of vehicles?

A technology display and demonstration area has been designed to supplement the main conference, where economics and capabilities of products will be assessed, including Anti-Slash Curtains, Perimeter and Electronic Beams, Warning Systems, Anti-Tamper Alarms, CCTV, X-Ray Scanners, GPS Systems, Hi-Tech Fencing and Intrusion Detection Systems.

Ria Babber, Conference Producer at LBCG, says, “The Pan-European Freight Security And The Migrant Crisis is the conclusion of several weeks of in-depth research with over 50 organisations in the field. Now at one conference you will hear the very latest multi-stakeholder strategies from government agencies including Home Office, UK Parliament – as well as prominent speakers from Eurotunnel, SGP Police Unit Force, Port de Calais, Road Haulage and Rail Freight carriers, RHA, FTA and specialist technology providers to uphold the security of all transport systems, guarantee driver security and increase safe movement of goods across borders”.
