Last autumn we visited and featured the London Borough of Enfield’s Public Safety Centre depot in north-east London. It’s now deploying the latest digital ANPR system from Videalert as part of a contract with OpenView Security Solutions Limited, the council’s incumbent provider of CCTV installation and support services. The system has already been installed at eight locations, where it has replaced the legacy NDI Recognition Systems equipment, and will be extended to a further 14 locations across the borough as part of replacement and upgrade.

What the product company calls a future-proofed platform uses the latest IP-based cameras and has been deployed at the Public Safety Centre depot. It delivers vehicle plate read data to police ANPR databases (BOFII and the latest Metropolitan Police database standard) for crime prevention as well as to traffic management systems (UTMC) to help reduce road congestion.
Enfield will achieve cost savings through the ability to simultaneously run a range of traffic management and community safety applications without having to procure multiple legacy point solutions, the product firm adds. This could include the real time capture of vehicle information for improved predictability of average journey times and incident detection, using the same camera assets.
