Covid-19 testing at terminals

by Mark Rowe

The aviation sector guarding firm ICTS UK & Ireland has signed an agreement with AGS Airports Ltd for provision of rapid covid-19 testing at terminal-based facilities at Aberdeen and Glasgow (arrivals, pictured, courtesy of AGS) Airports.

Testing capacity at AGS’s other airport in Southampton is planned. The contract covers labs, nurses and healthcare assistants. Passengers pre-book appointments. Results of PCR tests are returned within 24 hours while antigen test results take 15 minutes. PCR testing can be done either via a park-and-test method in the airport car parks or at a walk-up test facility within the terminal.

Phil Webb, CEO of C7 Health (parent company of TAC), said: “We have been performing testing in Aberdeen for 12 months now, primarily within the offshore oil and gas industry, and we look forward to applying the same level of efficiency and care that TAC Healthcare Group has become synonymous with, to the aviation sector.”

Mark Johnston, Chief Operating Officer of AGS Airports, said: “Although many air services have been grounded throughout the pandemic, our airports have remained open to support critical services including Highlands and Islands routes, essential oil and gas operations and vital hub connectivity for key workers.”

And the MD of ICTS, an ACS Pacesetters firm, Andy Kynoch said: “With the roadmap out of lockdown published on February 22, we look forward to the lifting of restrictions on air travel. This process will also stimulate the healing of the aviation sector, which we have been a part of for over 33 years. As a Group, we are incredibly proud of the agility with which we have been able to be at the forefront in assisting our clients in getting aviation back in the air.”

Andy Kynoch was among the speakers at an OSPAs thought leadership webinar early this month on the aviation security sector. You can listen again on the OSPAs website.
