A three year contract to provide security to British Airways at Heathrow and Gatwick Airports has gone to G4S Aviation Services (UK) Ltd (G4S).

Starting from this month, G4S will provide a range of security services at the London airports, including: staff, passenger, baggage and cargo screening; document and biometric verification; aircraft protection; firearms handling; incident response services; and building and asset security.

Adrian Tighe, Managing Director of G4S Aviation said: “We have been working closely with British Airways for over a decade and are delighted to be continuing our long-standing relationship as an integral part of their security arrangements. This contract will allow us to work in partnership with BA developing improved processes and enhancing levels of customer service.”

The security contractor added that the contract is expected to guarantee positions for more than 600 people in the Heathrow and Gatwick areas. G4S will provide services to British Airways’ operations at London Heathrow Airport’s Terminals 1, 3 and 5 and Gatwick Airport, including that airline’s engineering and cargo facilities.
