Writing award

by Mark Rowe

The security awareness consultancy The Security Company has won the IoIC Writing Award for 2012. The honour was announced at the IoIC Central Regional Awards on March 1, 2013 in recognition of the Huntingdon-based firm’s work for Colt Technology Services.

Titled, “Diary of an Identity Theft Victim” the work sought to engage Colt’s employees in an effort to curb the trust they put in electronic communications – regardless of the potential risks.

The judges praised the “entertaining writing style with supporting, detailed guidelines” and the “engaging personal angle”. They added: “This could be a very dry topic but the personalisation brings a spark.”

The consultants were able to report an increase of 236pc of unique user visits to Colt’s security portal with 84 per cent of recipients opening the diary entries as a result of the project.
