Understanding immigration law

by Mark Rowe

You could be fined up to £20,000 per person if you’re caught employing illegal workers, point out the organisers of a training course next month on the subject.

FM Contract Watch and The Security Watchdog (part of Capita Plc) are jointly hosting a training course in November. Its aim is to help managers, recruiters and HR staff to understand immigration legislation and how to identify fraudulent documents. This course is aimed at best practice in identity verification and prevention of illegal working in the UK. The day includes:

•Minimising the risk of civil penalties by ensuring Statutory Excuse under the Asylum, Immigration & Nationality Act 2006
•Compliance with all UK relevant employment and immigration legislation
•Resourcing and employment best practice for HR and recruitment teams in identity checks and prevention of illegal working
•Mitigation against the risks of hiring illegal workers or fraudulent job applications.

The course runs on November 19 at the Redgrave Suite, The Holiday Inn, Handy Cross, High Wycombe, postcode HP11 1TL. Cost per delegate: £150 plus VAT (including buffet lunch). Telephone 01844 260350 or e-mail [email protected], to book a place.
