Travel course

by Mark Rowe

The security contractor Pilgrims Group has launched a short course, TravelSafe. It’s aimed at business travellers. The entry-level course for staff who are travelling on overseas business lasts about 45 minutes and is broken down into four modules covering preparation (including situational awareness, lowering your profile, personal safety), environment (taxis, airports, hotels and restaurants) and emergency response (what to do if something goes wrong).

Pilgrims COO, David Freear, said: “This is the first time we’ve produced something like this, a very short course, aimed at the general business traveller, extremely focused and completely up to date with current threats in mind. It was designed in response to clients’ requests and is all about getting the individual to take more responsibility and start thinking, giving them the knowledge they need and helping them to feel more confident. It’s a very cost-effective way of delivering training and contributes strongly to duty of care requirements imposed by external regulation and internal policy. “

As it’s available online, the course can be done at any time, anywhere; and more information is available to back up the learning. A short exam comes at the end.
