A free Smart Technology event is running on Thursday, March 12, at the Imperial War Museum, Lambeth, south London. Hosted by the product companies Pelco by Schneider Electric and Avaya UK, it covers integrating security and networking technologies.

Speakers invited include Tony Porter, pictured, the former senior policeman now Surveillance Camera Commissioner for England and Wales; Leslie Wren, Principal Security Risk Manager, BBC; and, on industry trends, Aaron Dale of the market research company IHS; he’s an analyst in the video surveillance research group based in the UK.

The network product company Avaya and the video surveillance product manufacturer Pelco last year announced a global alliance partnership.

Registration begins at 10.30am for an 11am welcome and introduction. The topics before lunch include Video Management Solutions and IP communications; and after lunch, thermal imaging for the ability to detect humans and vehicles in darkness and through smoke, fog, rain and haze, providing situational awareness as in perimeters, ports and airports.

To register email: [email protected] – Sue Howes of Pelco by Schneider Electric. Ring: +44 (0)1189 789276.
