SSAIB welcome

by msecadm4921

SSAIB, the UK Certification Body for organisations providing a variety of services including fire protection and alarm systems, has welcomed interest it received at the 13-14 March Firex South show from a variety of visitors to its stand this year. The SSAIB’s Accreditation and Certification Manager, Geoff Rendall, and Marketing Manager Andrew Brown, were both on-hand throughout the two-day event at Sandown Park.

Visitors including installers, system integrators, end users, specifiers and consultants took the opportunity to discuss a range of fire-related topics.

SSAIB’s expanding services include third-party accreditation for providers of portable fire extinguishers and the organisation certifies companies to the requirements of the BAFE (British Approval for Fire Equipment) adopted schemes SP101 and SP203. “SSAIB offers certification for the contract maintenance of portable fire extinguisher services in accordance with the criteria laid down in BAFE standards SP203 (Fire Alarms) and SP101/ST 104 (Portable Extinguisher Maintenance),” says Andrew Brown.

“Meanwhile, for purchasers, specifiers and end-users, our remit as a Certification Body is to ensure your interests are protected and that you have access to a pool of competent service providers you can rely on. This is achieved through a strict enforcement of quality and performance standards carried out by our skilled assessors. Insurers are increasingly requiring evidence that all reasonable steps have been taken to mitigate risk and an SSAIB certificated company will meet or exceed your insurer’s requirements.”
