Retail crime guide launch

by Mark Rowe

Retailers Against Crime has brought out a 32-page guide to what retail theft looks like, as a training aid for shop staff to know what to look out for, and where to look. That might be seemingly everyday items that thieves use to conceal valuable items such as cosmetics and razor blades, to take out of a store without paying.

Pictured from left at the launch: Greig Stephen, Police Scotland; Jim McFedries, Head of Profit Protection, Scotmid Co-Operative and Vice Chair of Retailers Against Crime; Maxine Fraser, and Stephanie Karte, of Retailers Against Crime; Alex Thomson, Operations Manager, Servoca; and Jamie MacPherson, National Account Manager, Sensortech.

Jim McFedries said: “Scotmid Cooperative have always been great supporters of Retailers Against Crime. We were happy to assist with printing this literature in the hope that it will raise awareness amongst retailers and assist them in preventing crime.”

Jamie MacPherson said: “Sensortech support the RAC team by providing the BSafeBSmart smart phone app which delivers the ultimate in protection for any lone worker or vulnerable person anywhere, any time. We were delighted to support the booklet which will certainly benefits all retailers.”

And Alex Thomson said: “Servoca are proud to continue to sponsor RAC during 2016 and 2017 and look forward to working together with RAC and their members to detect and deter crime.”

The document, sponsored by Sensortech (and the printing sponsored by Co-operative retailer Scotmid) has only gone out to RAC members. Maxine Fraser, RAC’s National Operations Director, spoke to Professional Security before the booklet’s launch – see the November 2016 print issue of the magazine.
