Personal safety awards

by Mark Rowe

The annual National Personal Safety Awards mark the work done across the UK to keep people safe from violence and aggression.

The Suzy Lamplugh Trust, the personal safety charity, seeks to recognise best practice in the field across sectors. This year the awards, presented with Peoplesafe, a provider of lone worker services, will be announced on the afternoon of Thursday, March 23, 2017 at the Church House Conference Centre in central London. Shortlisted nominees will be announced before the day and will be invited. See the May 2017 print issue of Professional Security magazine for a report.

Anyone can nominate; organisations and individuals can either nominate themselves or be nominated by others.

How to nominate

To make a nomination (for yourself or someone else) you will need to send a completed nomination form; download a form on this link, or ask at [email protected]. All nominations must be received by email by 5pm Thursday, February 9, 2017.

Rachel Griffin, pictured, Director of Suzy Lamplugh Trust, said: “The awards are a fantastic way to highlight good practice across all sectors and to recognise the hard work of various individuals and agencies that promote and ensure personal safety. We have always been inspired by the breadth and depth of the different projects nominated for awards, all of which are making communities and workplaces safer places.”

And Ian Johannessen, Peoplesafe Managing Director, said: “The Personal Safety Awards are really important and have a vital role to play – we are seeking to recognise those people for whom Personal Safety is a passion beyond mere words and job function. In 2016 it was brilliant to see the breadth of people, places and situations where personal safety activities are making a real difference to the attitudes and lives of so many. I greatly encourage anyone who has a sense of commitment to Personal Safety to get involved.”
