Online careers centre

by Mark Rowe

The G4S Career Centre, launched in November 2010, reports that it has received its one millionth candidate registration. It matches registered applicants to suitable roles around the world and can be accessed and searched by the company’s managers. The online portal was set up to provide the company with access to a ready-made database of candidates, ensuring quicker, more appropriate and more cost-effective recruitment of staff.

It is estimated that the careers centre saves the contract security firm £5m a year, saving costs associated with recruitment agencies, head-hunters, advertising, and other expenditure.

The portal covers 38 of the 120 countries the company operates in and is being rolled out to the rest of the business.

Colin Minto, global head of resourcing, G4S plc, said: “Having a pool of over one million registered applicants on the Career Centre improves the quality of G4S hires, places them in better suited roles, reduces the time it takes to fill vacancies and demonstrates a strong pipeline of potential workers to our clients.

“The Career Centre is a unique concept, designed by G4S specifically for our recruitment needs. It combines leading edge technology and processes and has been a game changer for recruitment and resourcing at G4S.”
