Lone worker safety date

by Mark Rowe

After three months of planning PPSS Group, the firm behind the annual Lone Worker Safety Expo, have published the programme and speaker list for the Tuesday, November 24 event at Olympia Conference Centre, west London.

PPSS CEO and expo chairman Robert Kaiser said: “We are very pleased and proud to have secured some of the UK’s most knowledgeable and passionate experts in lone worker safety.”

“I would very much like to invite those who have not been able to visit our annual event in the past. Come to see us, I can assure you it will once again be a superb opportunity to network with like-minded professionals who share our passion for the safety of those working without direct supervision.”

Nicole Vazquez, Director of Worthwhile Training, has been invited again. Nicole will explain how to develop the most effective and operationally sensible lone worker policies.

Doug Melia, Managing Director of Safer Handling, will advise everyone on ‘physical confrontations’ and their appropriate responses. Doug said: “I am once again honoured to be a part of this and to be sharing a stage with my good friend and CEO of the PPSS Group, Robert Kaiser. This year, in addition to my talk on reasonable force, I am excited to be diversifying into more specific areas of the conference subject and talking about how violence and aggression and managing challenging behaviour can affect lone workers in certain sectors.”

“There is now a well-considered portion of the event designated to the Education and Care sector. Domiciliary visits, ward rounds, one to one support, classes of 30 children and deliveries all create some very real scenarios in which lone workers could potentially be more at risk.”

Dr Tim Marsh BSc MSc PhD C.Psychol of RyderMarshSharman is set to enlighten the audience again when discussing the subject of behavioural safety and explain why people do what they do. Mark Jenner, Managing Director of Assault Reduction International, is a conflict management trainer. His presentation will cover how to communicate with hostile and aggressive members of the public.

Walter Brennan, who worked for 25 years as Mental Health Specialist and Jonathan Fox, State Registered Paramedic with over 35 years of front line experience, will bring another perspective to the table, the perspective of the lone worker.
